The transition to adulthood is a difficult period for many individuals.

Issues of identity and belonging are often foremost at this time — questions like: Who am I? Where do I belong in the world? What is important to me? What do I want to become? Whom do I love?

This is also a time of incredible brain development and consolidation, and the time when we often see the first symptoms of what may become more serious psychological problems — depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, obsessive-compulsive behavior, eating disorders, etc.

If you or your child is in this age group, it may be important to work with a psychotherapist who understands the unique challenges of adolescents and young adults.

I specialize in working with teens (age 12-17) and young adults (age 18-30). My PhD dissertation looked at bipolar disorder diagnoses among emerging adults (age 18-25). I worked in college counseling for 4 years, and have extensive experience treating young adults. I also have prior experience and training in working with younger teens and children.

At this time, I provide individual psychotherapy to children aged 12-17, with the involvement of their parents or legal guardians.

Please note that in California, minors in this age group (12-17) may consent to their own mental health care, and parents may not access their minor child’s mental health records without the child’s written consent. I strive to involve parents in their child’s treatment while respecting the confidentiality and increasing autonomy of their child.

To learn more about my specific policies when working with children aged 12-17, please contact me directly.

I am not working with children younger than 12 years old at this time.

I help help teens and young adults find their place in the world.
